What to know before we come
The city's bulky item collection is a good deal when the timing works: one pass per neighborhood, usually somewhere between early spring and the end of summer, and your week arrives in the mail. The catch is what it does not cover. It serves single-family homes only, so businesses and apartment communities are on their own. Townhomes and condos often have to stage everything in one central spot. And if anything unacceptable is mixed into the pile, crews can leave the entire thing at the curb. Year round you can also self-haul to the Hanes Mill Road Landfill on West Hanes Mill Road, open weekdays and Saturday mornings, if you have a truck and a free morning. We are the option for everything in between: the week your street already had its pass, the rental that has to be empty by Friday, the pile that is too big or too mixed for a city crew, and the stuff you simply cannot lift onto a truck yourself.
